About Us More than language lessons

Na Ponta da Língua is a Portuguese language and cultural service created to help people connect with Portugal through language, culture and practical support.

We offer personalised European Portuguese lessons, seasonal courses and a range of services designed for people who are living in, moving to or simply discovering Portugal.

Whether you need to improve your Portuguese, prepare for everyday life, navigate a new environment or communicate across languages, we're here to make the process easier, more personal and more human.

Meet Your Teachers The people behind the lessons

Joana Rodrigues

Teacher & Co-Founder Joana Rodrigues

Joana is a native Portuguese speaker and an experienced language teacher with a background in Sociology, Urban Studies and Communication.

She combines a structured approach to grammar and pronunciation with conversation focused on real-life communication. Her lessons are adapted to each student's goals, level and interests, whether they're starting from scratch or looking to refine their Portuguese.

She is particularly interested in the relationship between language, culture and everyday life in Portugal.

Whether she's breaking down a tricky grammar point, working on pronunciation or exploring the cultural context behind an expression, Joana likes to make every lesson practical and meaningful. She believes that having the confidence to use the language is the most important, and that learning is always more rewarding when it connects to real life.

Nadine Mussá

Teacher & Co-Founder Nadine Mussá

Nadine, a.k.a. Nikki, is a native Portuguese speaker who studied Languages, Literature and Culture at NOVA-UNL. Her two cats love to act as TAs. She found her passion for teaching in 2015, having taught people of all ages.

She believes student-led, personalised lessons are one of the best ways to learn, along with immersion. Her focus is on each student’s needs: speaking, listening, writing, reading and navigating everyday life in Portugal.

Whether she’s perfecting verb tables or preparing a cultural lesson to the tiniest detail, every class helps you build confidence and practice your skills in a safe, relaxed environment.

One of her proudest achievements: turning a student who hated English into an English-loving one. She’d love to be a fly on the wall when a student sounds so natural their Portuguese friends do a double take.

How We Work Learning that fits your life

We don't believe in one-size-fits-all language learning. Every student comes with different experiences, goals and ways of learning.

That's why our lessons combine structure with flexibility. We work on the language you need while also making space for conversation, culture and the situations you're likely to encounter in everyday life.
